How it all got started

We're Joel & Jen Searby

When people are looking for local places to buy unique things with character and history, there aren’t a lot of options around. Antique stores tend to be priced very high and thrift store shopping can be a hit or miss based on what you’ll find that day.

But more than that, we know people want to find community. It’s not just about shopping – it’s about what you’re supporting by how you shop.

When we moved to Newberry, we knew we wanted to invest in the local community in a way we were passionate about. That’s why we opened Sycamore Lane Vintage Market.

Over  the last couple of years, we have been able to not only grow the shop, but also launch our Sycamore Lane Market Days with 30+ vendors and 3,000+ attendees.

We believe every community deserves businesses that are passionate about the people who live there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a vintage market and an antique store?

Antique stores and vintage markets have some overlapping kinds of things but have some core differences. An antique store often has higher-priced items of higher value or artistic value, while a vintage market would have a broader range of lower-priced vintage items, with most items being between $5 and $30.

A vintage market also has a wider variety of items, including local honey, clothing, food products, and other merchandise you may enjoy. Think of a vintage market like a classic general store with fresh inventory coming in all the time.

Why is it called “Sycamore Lane?”

Joel and Jen Searby first started collecting and selling vintage items as a kind of flea market at their property, which is lined with Sycamore trees. Those flea markets have evolved into our periodic Market Days, which attract dozens of local vendors as well as thousands of visitors.

What kind of things do you have in your store?

The short answer is, you never know! We intentionally stock a wide variety of vintage items, as well as local honey, local granola, apparel, fishing gear, and the list will keep growing. The beauty of a vintage market is that you never really know what you’ll find, but you’re sure to find something you’ll love every time.

Where are you located?

Our store is located in the heart of downtown Newberry, FL at 25310 W Newberry Rd, Newberry, FL 32669.

Can I purchase things online?

You are able to purchase things online, however we only offer in-store pickup for items.

Can you ship things to me?

Unfortunately no. We are a small boutique shop, so offering shipping on vintage items (that may be fragile anyway) isn’t something we currently offer.

How long have you been in business?

We hosted our first Market Day in January of 2019 and opened our retail store later that year.

Is it worth the drive if I’m not from Newberry?

We think so, and so do others who have made the drive. But whether you come to see us at the store, during a market day, or browse inventory online, we hope you’ll find something you love every single time.
